San Antonio Beer Week?

by RiverCityBlogger on May 12, 2011

FAIR WARNING: Drive as little as possible between Sunday May 15 through Sunday May 22 because the City of San Antonio is having yet another gathering that is sure to attract the drunks and alcoholics like ants to a Twinkie.

Are there not enough drunken related auto accidents, drunk related murders, drunk related stabbings, drunk related acts of domestic violence in San Antonio?

Why in the heck do we have to promote something called San Antonio Beer Week?!

The story on The Current is so lively, festive and almost cutesy that you can’t help but believe that we hardly have an alcoholic problem in San Antonio.

It goes on to report that:

‘Starting at noon on Sunday, the Pearl is host to the event Burgers, BBQ & Beer. Officially, this is a wrap-up family event for Culinaria Wine and Culinary Arts Festival, but SABW condones this mix of family fun, backyard food, and craft beer to wash it down.’

Yes, family fun, bring those kiddos, and have them witness how true die-hard beer drinkers wash down all that good and tasty BBQ and Burgers.

It is absurd and it does nothing for the image of San Antonio, the citizens of San Antonio or for the children that are watching all of this idiocy unfold.
