A 17-year-old girl was killed in a secondary crash while sitting in a Ford vehicle that was stalled on a road after a minor crash in San Marcos Texas.
The crash happened just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday July 24, 2024 on SH 123 near Lovelady Lane.
Her name was Chloe Belicek, all set to be a high school senior at Seguin ISD.
A Dodge truck slammed into the Ford vehicle that Chloe was sitting in as a passenger, leaving her with severe head trauma.
The 17-year-old died from her injuries a day later.
AAA Texas Spokesperson Doug Shupe said, “So many crashes are entirely preventable if people are watching and mindful of other motorists, bicyclists and other pedestrians,”.
I don’t know if any charges will be filed, I don’t know if the driver of the Dodge truck will be charged, regardless, so often I see drivers on the road who appear to be drunk, stoned, or watching videos on their phone while their phone sits on a phone-holder on the dash.
Again, I do not know the cause of the accident, but I don’t need to know for me to deliver this message.
Safety on the road begins before you get into any vehicle, as a driver or as a passenger.
Take a self-check of yourself and/or of the driver and be aware of the driver’s current condition before considering getting into the vehicle, or if you are the passenger, letting them drive.
We all have a responsibility when we are on the road, whether we are behind the wheel as the driver, or as the passenger, to make certain that we travel down the road in a safe manner.
Pay attention to what is ahead of you on down the road and to the vehicles traveling around you.
It is so very difficult, I know, there is no easy solution, but awareness goes a long way in saving lives.
Be Safe Out There.
Say a prayer for Chloe Belicek.
Take Care
